When people think about a photoshoot, they often worry about many things — what if I’m not beautiful enough? What if I should wait till I lose weight? What if I never did photoshoots and have no idea how to pose?

It usually comes from a deeper fear of looking awkward. Or a wish to have a perfect pose in order to be conventionally beautiful.

But the portraits that stay with us don’t come from getting it right.  They come from the moment you stop trying to.

That’s how I work. We will speak, laugh, cry, listen to the music, dance — do everything that helps you to be the real yourself.

I don’t try to “fix” the way you look. I just capture the real honest you with all the beautiful imperfections which make everyone a uniquely beautiful one.

Because the interesting part starts when you stop adjusting yourself. A pause. A shift in your expression. A moment where you’re not performing anymore. That’s what I’m looking for.

That also means no heavy makeup. No covering things up. No smoothing everything out.

Skin texture. Lines. Wrinkles. Stretch marks. All the small details we’re used to hiding. They are not something to remove. They are part of you, your experiences, life and how you exist.

At the same time, I still take care of the image. I find the good lighting and remove the temporary skin details like breakouts or small temporary distractions, while keeping the natural texture and character of you and your skin.

The goal is not to erase you, like it sometimes happens when the image is too perfect, but to keep the image honest and clear.

The way you look when you’re thinking. When you hesitate. When you forget about the camera. That’s what makes an image stay.

So when you come to a session, you don’t need to prepare a version of yourself. You don’t need to get it right. You just need to show up.

Most people don’t need better photos. They need a more honest way to see themselves.
